What's on TV tonight?

A few things on my mind this evening while I anxiously await the medal ceremony of this political race:

1) I don't know if it's a credit to the election board folks or a bad sign of what's to come, but it only took me 30 minutes total to vote today. Probably would have taken even less time, but for some reason all of the A-C's showed up at once. (Seriously, no other letters were there. )

2)What did you all choose: the stupid electronic ballot or good ol' paper ballot? I went with paper and no, it wasn't just because Mom told me to. (She also told me not to be fooled if someone told me to vote on the 5th instead--thanks Mom.) Think about it. How many times in high school or college did the scan tron incorrectly read your test? It never happened, unless you cheated (cheaters!). Now, think about those touchscreen Photo Hunt games at bars. Those things f'up all the time (pardon my abbreviated French.) Maybe not the best examples, but the paper line was shorter AND it made me more comfortable seeing my vote go into that big paper shredder looking bin......hmmm uh oh.....

3)Candidates should consult kids when coming up with campaign slogans. I mean really, I think this one I heard is brilliant: "If you're insane, vote for McCain. If you love your Momma, vote for Obama!"

4) I went to a new class at the gym this evening called Body Step. It's insane like McCain. Since it's new, the first couple classes you learn the basic footwork and a couple "simple" routines. If you've never done a step class before, none of these steps are that simple. Typically an hour class, we only worked 30 minutes tonight and did 4 out of the 12 tracks. I was beat, and I mean beat. Since I did this crazy class and we're crowning a new President, I figured it was a good time to finally try the Coffee Caramel Milkshake from Chik-fil-a. It's in the freezer now marinating until I'm ready. I'll let you know how it goes. I've heard great things...

I did it! In yo face.

Welp, I did it. I completed my first 5k ever this past Sunday. I walked a little bit of it, probably .5 mile total but there were quite a few hills! Overall, it surprisingly felt pretty good in the end, especially since the money went to help children with cancer. I'm definitely looking forward to doing another, but it's going to have to wait until the spring when it's warmer.

On another note, I like this article regarding Biden's response to the question of whether Obama's desire to "spread the wealth" was Marxist. I saw a brief clip of this today on CNN during lunch, and I too chuckled a little after the hearing the question and wondered whether this anchor woman was actually serious. Here are my favorite parts, not hard to pick out:

"The defenders of the status quo have always tried to tear down those who would change our nation for the better," Biden said. "They said Thomas Jefferson wasn't ... a real Christian. That was the essence of the campaign against him. Well, does that sound familiar?" he said.
"Ladies and gentlemen, they said Abraham Lincoln ... wanted to take away individual rights. Ladies and gentlemen, they said Franklin Roosevelt would destroy the American system of life. Sound familiar? And ladies and gentlemen, they said that John F. Kennedy was, quote, 'a dangerous choice in difficult times.' ... Sound familiar?"
Obama said Monday his economic philosophy today centers on protecting and empowering American workers.
"John McCain calls this socialism. I call it opportunity, and there's nothing more American than that," Obama said.

Vommit

Enza Sambataro: “It’s a day-to-day thing,” she said, laughing. “Saturday, we weren’t getting married because Kevin had too many margaritas. But it’s back on now. Right, Kev?“

Come on, Kev! Come to your senses...puh-lease. It's not too late

From Mom's kitchen to yours

Ahhh what a nice weekend. Mom and I relaxed (well, I relaxed, she ran around the house as is typical and expected), did a little shopping, and enjoyed one of our new guilty pleasures: Ben and Jerry's Dublin Mudslide with Virginia Gentleman "drizzled" on top. I highly recommend you all give this a try as well; that last spoonful of melted ice cream is sure to send a slight shiver up your spine :) The reviews are in and it's being called the best new creation since "The Mary Blair."

Oh and now for a movie review: Vantage Point--don't bother.

Stick it in!

Any of the Blanderson crew attending the VT-BC game interested in purchasing the following? It's only $8 online at the Campus Emporium

(sorry can't really 'click to enlarge' here, you'll have to follow the link)

I'm contemplating, mainly because Stick it in! Stick it in! Stick it in! was always my fave cheer...thanks for ruining that one Weaver.

There's a first time for everything...

So, we all know Blairs (at least those from the BBB bloodline, I can't speak for the rest of 'em) have never been much on running... (Note: Price might possibly enjoy it more that the rest of us, but I'm sure that's the Anderson influence.)

BUT, thanks to Susan, I will attempt to run my first race this October, The Goblin Gallop. Granted, it's only a 5k, it's a race none the less and I plan to finish it running! Did I mention I hate running? Oh well, it's for a good cause.

Hopefully, I won't suffer the same fate as Andy from The Office.

I know, mildly inappropriate...

Bacoooooon!

Pretty sure this is what Price has really been working on all these years...

With JD's Bacon Salt you can supposedly make everything taste like bacon with no fat, no calories anndddd it's vegetarian. Weird. It comes in Original, Hickory, and Peppered.

P-Dids, let me know how it tastes!

New show, same zip code!

You betcha I tuned in to the series premier of the new 90210. Obviously not as good as the original, but we knew that as soon as rumors of the new '0 started. There were a few obvious ties to the old one like Kelly Taylor (now a WBHH guidance counselor) and Brenda Walsh, who shows up in hour #2 (probably going to be the new WBHH drama teacher.)The not so obvious links included Hanna Zuckerman-Vasquez (Andrea and Jesse's daughter, who only made a brief cameo in this episode) and Erin Silver (David and Kelly's half sister.) All and all, I'd say it was a complete waste of 2 hours of my life. But will I tune in again? Duh. Think about all the hours I've "wasted" so far in my life for 90210...let's just say 2 episodes, 5 days a week PLUS 3 episodes every Saturday morning (and that's just the last 2-3 years!) Anyone care to do the math?

If you're really interested (I know you aren't...but if you want to waste time at work or something) you could take the quiz to find out:Which 90210 character are you?

I'm not so sure this is the most accurate quiz, but apparently I'm Mrs. Walsh. That's ok, Mom knew Carol Potter!

Mmm Turkey Legs!

Hokie football season is almost here! I can feel my feet swelling already from those Lane Stadium turkey legs! {NOTE: Seriously, I've only had part of one once; it was good. My feet did swell, but what else is new. It does kinda freak me out that the HOKIES eat TURKEY legs...but whatev.}

Anyway, check out The North Endzone; it's a great preview of the season ahead.

Forever and ever, UVA sucks. Gobble gobble.

Doggy Lullaby

I know I super suck at keeping up with the bloggy lately...

Ok, this makes my heart melt. I need a puppy :(

Relay for Life

Remember that time, ya know, when you were raising money for that super important cause? Remember, and I donated some monies to you?

Relay for Life is coming up this Saturday and I should have started my fund raising efforts much much sooner (shame on me!), so I need all the help I can get. All the money raised goes directly to American Cancer Society. Don't make me beg!? Please...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

(If memory services me correctly from my few years studying psychology, if you thank people in advance they feel more obligated to follow through with your request. Is it working?)

Cheers!

The rain finally stopped and the weather seems to have warmed up enough around here just in time to sit back and raise a glass (or two) of G.T in honor of Daddio's birthday. Cheers! I wonder how that fishin' trip went today ; )

So good, so good!

My newest addiction:

I try hard to fight it, but sometimes you just have to give in to temptation. I give it 4 out of 5 fat rolls! Caramel ice cream...cinnamon, sugary swirl-stuff...and some kind of cookie dough. Mmm I'm drooling...

"On the Road Again" with East Hundred

They make me laugh...out loud....a lot :) Hopefully, whenever Tour 2 starts these guys will make it back to the Velvet Lounge. Maybe by then the ventilation will be better...or at least the fat girl with the gas problem won't be around.

Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

There was an article in Parade this weekend by Randy Pausch regarding his "Last Lecture." It was insightful and inspiring enough for me to then hop online and watch the hour-ish long talk (Red Sox game in the background of course...) If you have some time to kill, I recommend you take a look as well.

Do You Know?

Unbelievable!

Congratulations, P-Diddy!

You can now officially call him "Dr. Blair;" however, I will do no such thing. (No, really, I mean when would I ever need to refer to my brother as Dr. Blair?)

Price has taken a lot of good-natured ridicule, particularly over the last 4-5 years he's been in school, but this really is quite the accomplishment and I am very proud of him, as I know we all are. In fact, I'm pretty sure Granddaddy and Dad just looked at each other with big grins on their faces and said "Hooooly shit! He did it!"

Bev is the lucky one though; she's got a whole lot of Guitar Hero and shopping to catch up on while Price is out supporting the family.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE baseball season? It did kind of sneak up on me though; I haven't even ordered MLB Extra Innings yet!

Not only that, but Kevy has updated his blog (only like a week ago, don't worry) and I haven't even had time to catch up on all of my reading! I did read "Soaking It In"--not gonna lie, it was a good laugh. But, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways....I wonder if he's done-zo with the big Enza yet?!

Here is a little taste of Kevy and the kind of insight we can all look forward to this season: "I'm looking forward to the sushi. It's very good here, it's very fresh and really good. It comes right off the docks here. It's great sushi. You've got to get as much as you can because you can't find this kind of sushi in the States."

I hope he doesn't read this and think I'm making fun of him....

Ha yea right, he'll read this and love me. Maybe, just maybe, one day he will quote me on his blog!

Somebody stole my dreams...

AND MADE THEM A REALITY!!

Naturally, it won't come anywhere close to being as good as the original...thank goodness for SOAPnet. My personal favorite episode: No. 30 Wild Fire

H.I.Q.I

Last weekend, Hit It and Quit It made an impressive showing during our first (Second Annual)Beer Olympics at Pickles Pub in Bmore, MD. We were able to hold on to 3rd for a good while, thanks to Linnea and my skill on the BP table and the guys holding down Cornhole (I think), but we ended up 8th overall out of 12. Next year, we plan on leaving with a Golden Pickle medal.

Hit It and Quit It '08 (with our team judge, Big Rob)

Next weekend, I'll be in good ol' Beantown visiting Price and Bev for St Patrick's Day. Sure to be a great time, if we can bring Price out of his cave! I guess that is what it takes though to win Pharmacologist of the Year.

Not to mention...

THIS:
May be a little tough to decipher.... see, this is the hole the plumber had to put in our ceiling above the 'fridge to drain the massive amount of water that built up in our ceiling in less than 12 hours, unbenounces to the girls of Whispher Hill Drive of course until this morning. Apparently all the water valves in this place are crap. In case you need to make some money to pay back those bets you made on the Pats, we're taking bets on how long Promax takes to fix this thing.

mmm...Donuts

I think that during a time like this, we (meaning Pat's fans, not you Haters ) could use a little comforting...ok, a lot of comforting. This is why I am requesting Mrs. Beverly Blair to please post the Donut Muffin recipe. Perhaps then a self-induced sugar coma can be induced and we (meaning at least me) could forget that Belichick was wearing a new red sweatshirt instead of the steadfast dirty grey one. That is all I have to say about that.

Not to mention that I could then at least blame this lump in my stomach on too many donut muffins, instead of the dissappoint that came with Super Bowl 42....or whatever number it was.

This is it!

Tina Cervasio is on her way out! Is she crazy?!? Husband-Shmusband, that's what I say. It was a good run though and I will miss her.

Oh well, this is my chance--Red Sox here I come!!
(...although they'll probably slap me with a sexual harrassment case soon after...)

I can't wait for baseball season to start back up....but in the mean time....

Let's go PATS!
